Tuesday, March 3, 2018 6:00pm-8:00pm: Race, Economy, Workers and Borders: A Community Forum
In this 4th forum the speakers will lay out the link of h2a to the lack of just comprehensive immigration reform. The impact h2a has on our State’s local economies, jobs, communities and our food system. We welcome the co-sponsorship of the Racial Justice Coalition to also link h2a to the racist beginnings of corporate agriculture.
Speaker line up: Jeff Johnson, President of the WA State Labor Council representing over 400,000 unionized workers. David Bacon, a world renowned photo journalist, that has interviewed and photographed thousands of h2a workers in the U.S. Ramon Torres, President of the only independent indigenous farm worker union in the West Coast: Familias Unidas por la Justicia.
The panel will be moderated by Michele Stelovich, President of the NW WA Labor Council based in Bellingham
